So after eating all those great Christmas goodies, spotting Rudolph's light up in the sky, and well, psyching themselves up for Christmas, nobody went to sleep well on Christmas Eve. I stayed up late again because that's what parents do on Christmas Eve - somehow there is a lot to do that night! Go figure.
Usually we can get our kids to wait until 7 a.m. before going down to see what Santa brought, but this year, at 5:00, when they came to ask if it was time to go down yet, they also brought along the baby. That worked. I knew he wouldn't go back to sleep until he had eaten breakfast. I stole a few more moments of sleep as I sent them all off to use the bathroom and make their beds, and then rolled out of bed at about 5:10. Merry Christmas!
Jalen Andrew was the most thrilled to find a candy cane in his stocking, and began quickly to bite through the plastic to eat the candy. He got moved quickly to his high chair to enjoy his candy cane in all it's sticky glory. He didn't stop there either, but enjoyed devouring every sweet goody he could find or could get by whining throughout the remainder of the day. A true socker ratta "sugar rat" in the making.

Jalen Andrew's second favorite thing about Christmas was stealing Joseph's new soccer ball.

James is thrilled to have a new basketball, and has self-posed this action shot for the camera.

Who's bright idea was this, Rebekah?

True holiday cheer.

The best present Jalen Andrew found Christmas morning, was discovering his blanket, buried underneath everyone else's blankets in the basket. He was so excited!

And now . . .
It's nap time!
So, Merry Christmas to all . . . and to all, a good night!
(Out of respect for the innocent, we'll dispense with the display of sleeping pictures, caught on tape by those who chose not to snooze.)
And yes, the girls were with us Christmas morning, but have expressly requested that we not share their morning looks and pajamas to all our blogger friends. Sorry.
P.S. I finally got a picture of Jalen Andrew with Santa Claus, although the face has been hidden to protect the true identity of Father Christmas.

Christmas afternoon, and we're all awake, once again, and have had quite our fill of Christmas goodies, although that doesn't seem to stop us from having more.
We spent the afternoon putting together puzzles while watching the movie "The Ultimate Gift" (we really like this movie!)

And the older kids filled up their new photo albums with the pictures we printed off for them for Christmas (I stop scrapbooking for them when they're 8 years old). That was a great idea for Christmas (if I do say so myself); it gave them something to do, and they enjoyed looking at all of their pictures from years past (and relieved a certain amount of guilt that I've had, over not printing off their pictures).
Christmas Day, was a VERY rainy day, which was a very nice change. It did, however, make it difficult for James and Joseph to be cooped up. So, before heading over to my parents' house for Christmas dinner, we went to the church and played ball in the cultural hall for awhile. That was fun, as we had volleyball, soccer, and basketball all going on at the same time. Amazingly nobody got hurt in the first 1/2 hour, but Joseph somehow had a magnetic attraction to flying balls in the last 1/2 hour. After his 5th injury within 5 minutes, we decided it was time to leave.
Christmas dinner was a nice way to neutralize the effects of a day of candy and goodies (Thanks Mom & Dad), and all in all, it was a pleasant Christmas.
