"Oh, How I Like to Go Up in a Swing . . . "

Wednesday morning, out of the blue, Joseph turned me to me and said, "You know Mom? There are some boys that are my age that don't even know how to swing. They're always inside playing Nintendo or the Wii, and so now they don't even know how to play! I think that's so sad. When I go over to my friend's house, his mom always tells us to go play the Wii. She never tells him to play anymore, so all we ever do is the Wii. I can't imagine not knowing how to play!" Is this the same son who pined for a Nintendo DS, a Wii, a Playstation, or an XBox 360 for 6 months during his 2nd grade year? Thank you, Joseph. Thank you for finally understanding the point that I made everyday for 6 months. And while we're at it . . . you're welcome. I'm glad that you can find enjoyment in playing! "Oh, how I like to go up in a swing, up in the air, so blue. Oh I do think it's the pleasantest thing ever a child can do. Up in the air, and over the wall, til I can see so wide, rivers, and trees, and cattle and all over the country side. Til I look down on the garden green Down on the roof so brown. Up in the air, I go flying again. Up in the air, and down." -Robert Louis Stevenson
