Pretty, Pretty Basketball Player

Who knew that our pretty, pretty princess little girl
would turn into an aggressive basketball player!
Congrats on making the Freshman Basketball Team!
We LOVE watching you play, Rebekah.

Season's Over

So the Ladies' Storm didn't make it as far as they wanted to this season, but that's okay!
They played hard, and it was so fun watching "my" girls play. Rebekah and Monique had a unique connection with each other, and did some amazing passes. And Rebekah hates it when I say this, but she has such beautiful lay ups!

End of Season

It wasn't the kind of ending they had hoped for on Monday, when the Ladies' Storm lost to Coyote Hills.
The girls played hard though, and have much to be proud of.
They had a great season, and only lost one district game (by one point) before the District Tournament. Ultimately they ranked either 3rd or 4th in the district - not to mention they earned the 3rd place trophy for the Centennial Coyote Classic.
Their games on Saturday were phenomenal, and very fun to watch.
I am so proud of all of the girls - their enthusiasm, their sportsmanship, and their hard work.
I am especially proud of Rebekah, who has grown leaps and bounds in her abilities and skills, and who has worked very hard, and has been a great asset to the team.
We're SO proud of you, Rebekah!

3rd Place Champions

The Ladies' Storm won 3rd place in the Jr. High tournament held by Centennial.
They did a great job, and Rebekah made the last points of their game.
She has really improved these past few weeks, and has been scoring points for
the team every game.
Way to go!
(I forgot to bring my camera, so I'm waiting for someone else to e-mail me a pic. Sorry.)

Stormin'

The Ladies' Storm Basketball team won their first game of the season yesterday.
We weren't sure who would get playing time, and who wouldn't.
Rebekah got called into the game twice, and had some good hustle.

Looks Like She Made It . . .

Despite the fact that she was suffering from the same ol' nasty head cold that the rest of our family had, and didn't feel well at all, Rebekah persevered through girls' basketball tryouts this week, and
MADE IT!!!!!
We're so proud of you, Rebekah! It's going to be really fun to watch you play!

Bye Bye Basketball Season

The Paseo Storm Girls' Basketball team had a good season, winning most of their games. They made it to the semi-finals, and were disappointed to lose the opportunity of going on to the finals. We're proud of their hard work, and for Christine's dedication in practice and in bettering her basketball skills. She'll always be a champion in our book!

"We are the Champions!"

Christine's basketball team played their tournament games this past week and weekend. They went into Saturday's games undefeated, and left the games with the first place trophy. Their last game was against Coyote Hills, and Paseo won the game 31 to 26. It was a pretty intense game, as they were neck and neck most of the time. They were tied at the end of the game, and went into overtime. It was so intense that Joseph wouldn't watch when the "Ladie's Storm" was getting ready to shoot a basket. He would bury his face in my lap, repeating over and over again, "I can't watch! I can't watch!" But they did it! As you can imagine, they are pretty pleased with themselves right now (we, parents are quite proud too).

Looks Like She Made It!

Christine hasn't been quite sure if she was going to try out for the girl's basketball team at school or not. I thought that since she missed open gym for it, it was a no, but apparently she had other thoughts. Tryouts were this week, and she went to those. This morning as I passed her on my way to the kindergarten playground, after she had looked at the player list, she mouthed, "I made it!" We were running a little late so she got a thumb's up from me, along with a little high-5 in passing, and then we both glowed a little as we walked away from each other. We're proud of you, Christine! Good luck! Thanks for turning our lives upside down again, for another few months!
