This is the Garden that God Grew

Yes, we planted the seeds,

and I did water it in the beginning,

but then somewhere in the Christmas chaos,

I completely forgot about it.

When life calmed down,

and I remembered our little garden,

I didn't want to even go look at it,

because I was sure that everything was dead.

To my surprise . . .

the garden looked very nice.

I don't know why Heavenly Father thought that

He should help our little, neglected garden -

sending rain throughout the winter months,

but I thank Him for the abundance.

Our little vegetable boy

has been thoroughly enjoying the fresh veggies.

He has loved eating the little tomatoes,

and the snap peas.

I was surprised the other day though, when he started

picking the lettuce,

taking a bite,

and exclaiming, "Mmmm, yummy!"

Little House in the Garden

Tuga officially moved out of the house, and got a place of her own. Erik spent the day building her a burrow. We needed a place for her to live, where she could roam some, but the neighborhood cats and birds wouldn't come and attack her. Finally we decided on a little house that I had bought at Target awhile ago (really cheap on clearance), that we don't really use since Michelle & Alan gave us a bigger, better one. Erik attached chicken wire to the windows, and we put the house in the corner of our garden area. Tuga seemed excited, and had a little extra kick to her step, as she retreated to the burrow to settle down for the night. Joseph and James' contribution to the garden area is a BIG trench that they made for a LITTLE beetle that they carried around ALL day, taking care of, playing with, making up stories about, and absolutely adoring. And since we're talking about the garden, might I add that I finally finished weeding the flowerbeds and garden walk ways in the back yard. Ya, me! That was a lot of work, not because of the weeds so much (they were pretty easy to pull up) but because of the grass that I had to pull up out of there. I've planted a bunch of flower seeds - let's hope some of them grow.

Spring * Sprang * Sprung

Since our front yard is still in transition - it's a big pile of dirt if you want to get technical about it - I go looking for spring's colors in the back and side yard. It won't last for long. Spring quickly turns to summer here, and in some ways has already begun heating up (except for yesterday when we had 35-40 mph winds that kicked things up, and brought us a bit of a chill). So, I'll enjoy it while I can . . .
