Yesterday James and his fellow kindergarteners performed a little Christmas program for the parents. They all boarded the Polar Express in their pajamas, and then proceeded to amuse and delight their audience.
(I'll apologize ahead of time for all the jiggliness of the camera. Jalen Andrew was dancing like crazy next to me, and bumping me. Also, I was trying to steady the camera around people's heads, etc.)
Their first song was sung with great gusto and enthusiasm, but was off track with the recording. A sure fire way to make all us parents smile!
James has been very excited about this program, and has been singing the songs around the house for a week or two. He did some great singing for the first song, was almost completely distracted by the reindeer prancing around on stage for the second song, was lost in wonder watching Santa and elves doing a happy holiday jig during the 3rd song, but made up for it with a little jig of his own at the end of the song, and then pretty much stopped singing and started doing a great interpretive dance for the remainder of the program.
He told me later, in all seriousness, "All of a sudden I realized that everybody was taking pictures and movies of ME!" Ah - that explains it! When all the parents quit watching their own children on stage, and start watching you, then that is the time to act too cool to sing, and start dancing funny instead. Humility runs deep in this family!
